I will be taking part in the Brentwood Half Marathon on Sunday 9th March and would be grateful if someone could lead the bike ride - I believe its my turn?

Anyone else doing the half marathon?

Hi Gary,

I am doing the Brentwood half, I am off on a weeks intensive training..... with the lads skiing in Kitzbuhel so I might be a bit rusty on my return.

See you at the start line. Mr. Green

I'm in it if my dodgy hamstring lasts that long. Would enjoy a bike ride up there too. We could go the way we go up to London, which is probably about 20 miles.

Gary, I was think of doing the Brentwood Half next week but will probably give it a miss as I need to do a long ride. I don't mind taking the ride next Sunday - I will plan a route and post it on the forum during the week. By the way any chance you take my ride on the 6th April as I will be on Holiday?

Ian - thanks for the offer of taking the ride and happily swap for the 6th April, provided you bring me back some Mickey Mouse ears?

Lee - I can't ride to Brentwood as I have the children the night before and will be dropping them back en route.

There is a 100k bike ride around the hills of Kent (Kent Invicta Grimpeur) starting and finishing at Otford, near Dartford. Sue and Zena have this on their training plan and I was thinking of doing it myself.

Is anyone else up for it (£5 entry on the day)

Ian,

As nobody weems to want to cycle up, I'd be up for a long ride Saturday if you (or anyone else) fancies it, so you can join us for the Brentwood Half Sunday? Depends if you mind taking along an 'anchor' or not?!

I think the Kent Invicta Grimpeur isn't going to attract a lot of people - Sue and Zena had it on their list but are probably going to do another one instead.

I'll be happy to come along Sunday morning; if there is enough for two groups then I'll take the shorter group for some quality work around Hanningfield.

Thanks for the offer of a ride on Saturday Lee but I have to take all the kids swimming in the morning so I tend to take a day off on Saturdays.

Good luck at the Brentwood Half though. I hope you get through it OK.

Anyway here is my route for Sunday:-

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1676314

After going down North Hill (yes Mike your eyes are not deceiving you) we head through the very picturesque villages of Terling and Fairstead then Witham, Heybridge and Maldon. We also cycle part of the old Braintree Triathlon course. I haven’t cycled the route through Witham before so we may have to stop to check directions.

As I am still suffering with a cold (sorry man flu) so I intend on taking it at a sensible pace. The route is bang on 50 miles and we should be back by 10.30 ish.

Hope to see you all on Sunday at 07.30

Richard are you planning a shorter session to include Hanningfield?

Hi Richard

Will these speed sessions be every Sunday from now on. I would be interested in doing this type of work out. The thought of getting the training in and still be able to make it home for a full english before the long ride has even turned for home is very appealing.

Thanks
Graham
