Marshals list of jobs is now completed. E-mails have been sent out to all helping on day! Please let me know if you have any queries.
Thanks to all who volunteered (or were pressganged!)
Good luck to all competing.

On behalf of Essex fire service i would like say a big thanks to all the organisors, marshals and members of EETC for making the event so succesful. I know the guys enjoyed themselves, impressed with how friendly everyone was and how well the event ran. I am sure there will many returning next year and i promise Zena that i will buy some of them an alarm clock so that you can close registration on time.

It was a tail of what can go wrong will go wrong -- but despite the obstacles of missing scaffolding, pools which didn't open on time, missing water cups, irate dancers wanting to unload their cars in front of cyclists - Grays 2008 was another great success.

Just to top it off EETC not only picked up a host of trophies but there were PBs galore right accross the board. Its also interesting to see how many different sub competitions are developing where groups of club members of similar ability seem to be thriving on driving each other on to better and better results. (for my part I just need to find another minute somewhere to get that bit closer to Mr Baynes, Smith and Brown - still can't really complain with a 6 min PB).

It was brilliant to turn up before 5am this morning to put up some signs only to see five other club members turn up soon after - a full 30 minutes before the official arrival time.

Thanks to everyone for helping to make this another special day. There were so many tales of people going above and beyond the call of duty - from John Holdsworth and Zac managing the traffic in Orsett, to John Smith risking life and limb sorting the dancers out at Blackshots and Lisa Morgans rushing from job to job from swim to run. For the record Dan - 'Wind is your Friend' - only in training - not in a race and certainly not up hill!!

I never thought that 3 years ago when I got up early to head over to Blackshots to check out what this triathlon lark was all about that I would be refereeing the event two weeks before competing in an Ironman.

Hopefully we'll have a report with pictures in this weeks Thurrock Gazette
