Just a quick note to wish everyone all the very best of luck with IMs Austria, Switzerland and Roth. I hope you all achieve what you want to achieve on the day and that all goes well.
I hope it's cr*p weather here next weekend as I shall be glued to the PC keeping an eye on everyone's progress!
Good luck all, Lee |

Can a just say a huge GOOD LUCK to all your ironmen/women this weekend!!! I've treated lots of you over these past few months and have just been so impressed with your motivation and commitment!!
You've done all the hard work now you've just gotta enjoy it (easily said as i'm sitting down glued to the computer doing basically bugger all!!)
Remember.......
Pain/wind is your friend
Pain is only temporary, glory lasts forever
Feel the fear and do it anyway
If you're not living life on the edge you're just taking up space (no prizes for guessing which catagory I fall into!)
......hope these ridiculous quotes imspire you and for those who just want a giggle always remember.....you can't polish a turd!!! x x x x x x |

Hi All,
Have a great race, I have been and will be thinking of you all this weekend.
Play time is over - let the race begin,
remember as Gemma says PAIN is only Temporary
GIVING UP IS FOREVER !
You can eat an Elephant , one small bit at a time.
The swimming of 2.4 mile starts with but a single stroke
The pedalling of 112 miles starts with the turn of a single pedal
The journey of a 26.2 miles must begin with a single step
Repeat many many times to cross the finish line
All our Best wishes to all of you our thoughts and hearts will be willing you all on.
Have a great day
Steve & Bernie.
Dan apologies typo did not want to make it any mor of a challenge
Good Luck

Hey All,
Thank you for the words of encouragement but there are a few things I would like to clear up here!
- The wind is only your friend in training, I am no longer interested in the wind, I do not need it any longer!!!
- I will only be cycling 112 miles this Sunday if I do 122 I have taken the wrong route this is certainly not in my plan!!!
I wish all the other Iron people the best of luck enjoy the day you have worked/trained hard and deserve it.
Regards, _________________ Dan |

Hi all
Back yesterday from the race of my life! It was the most awesome experience.
Congratulations to all those who took part, commiserations to poor Ian Steddon. We all felt for you, Ian.
Huge round of applause to all the supporters. Our race in the torrential rain, thunder and fork lightening was bad enough, but we were on the move - not just standing about waiting.
The locals were fabulous. Standing out in the raid, cheering everyone on. Made you feel like you were riding the Tour de France!
Will I do it again? Not likely! Brilliant experience and would recommend it. But it IS tough!
Look forward to seeing you all soon.
Love & hugs,
Jan xx |

Where do I start - firstly well done to everyone who raced - totally amazing achievement, and heart felt commiserations to Ian and Gary who didn't make the race, but best of luck to them both next year with their ironman.
I couldn't have had the race of my life without all the help from so many of you, from Richard and Sue composing the training plan, to Zena keeping me in line on training sessions (and even allowing me to walk occasionally on our long runs!!), to all the totally fantastic support crew on the day, to Ian for organising the accommodation and last night buffet, to all the people I trained with who kept me motivated throughout training with lots of laughs and training/race tips, to Gemma as much as it really hurt her fixing my calfs (and legs)!!! I could go on and on - the list is endless. HUGE BIG WELL DONE EVERYONE AND THANK YOU.

Can only add to what Chris and Jan have said about the great support, not just from our own crew who are the best in the world, but all those who stood out on the course.
The wind decided to remain friendly on the bike course and brought along his other good friends - rain, thunder and lightning (very, very frightening).
Thanks for words of wisdom Steve - never saw them before I went or would have been looking for elephants everywhere - made do with croissants, gels, power bars and suchlike.
Gemma hope you didn't do naff all over week end - National Relays in two weeks - get your bottom back out on that bike!!!!!
Kevin Harding already registered for Austria next year - you are not on your own Ian!!
Gary - we missed you lots!
Zena xxxxxxx
PS - 2 weeks rest then I want focus on National Relays - think we may have started a friendly rivalry with Milton Keynes and Cherwell so we need to whip their bottoms!! |

I would really like to add my thanks to all the support from EETC especially on the marathon. We were definitely the best supported group out there. It was the only thing that kept me going at the start of the marathon after putting on my soaking running kit. Paying for it now as I hobble round Euro Disney with the family.
I think I could easily have managed that elephant with a side order of fries given that my HRM said I consumed 11,500 calories during the race! Not sure how I would have got it in my special needs bag.
Ian, thanks for organising the hotel and buffet, I know you will get IM done next time.
Zena, best of luck in your challenge against Milton Keynes |

At last my legs are beginning to feel like they belong to me. Gemma, love her, had great fun sending me into orbit this morning but it really has helped. I can now walk up & down the stairs without doing geriatric impressions and I don't need a wynch to get me on & off the loo!
Off to polish my medal now -
Love you all!

Right it has been a few days I have forgotten about the pain (I do have a short memory!) I have started looking for next years Iron man event.
I have a few ideas......has anyone got any suggestions I have heard rumours that some people may be considering Lanzerote? _________________ Dan |

A brilliant race! The noise from the EET club support crew was truly awesome. A special thanks to Richard F, Mike S, Mark B, Vicky, Janice, Kate, Micheal, Jenny and all the other support crew who cheered me on. Also a big thank you to Chris Talyor for making me laugh at 4.30 am on race day at breakfast. Good luck to Kevin, Ian and my good freind Steve Pallet who have signed up for 2009. You'll just love it!
Dan, a great effort in Switzerland - the bike course there is a tad harder than Austria. Did you manage to tame the beast? |

Thanks Ian, not sure who tamed who it was certainly more of a climb than I first gave it credit for! I loved heartbreak hill, steep but loads of people there cheering great atmosphere.
Well done on a cracking time, very impressed. _________________ Dan |

Just back from Austria and logged in. Everyone seems to have said it all but for my threepennethworth:
The support was amazing and a credit to all involved. I really looked forward to coming round the EETC bend on the run in either direction with the look outs shouting a warning to the assembled mass in blue and yellow.
The hotel was great being by the lake and you could eat as much at breakfast as you could manage. Shame it rained so we had to eat inside Monday/Tuesday. The scenery from our room was stunning.
As usual, it is the people that make an event but the group that makes up EETC is really special whether competing or not.
Especial thanks to Iron George who let me overtake him on the bike (initially) and made me realise I wasn't actually going as slow as it felt!
I think I managed to get my body sorted for the event and managed to nail each element according to plan but next time (should there be one) I need to get my mind right for the last 10k - body willing but brain wasn't. Was that not the purpose of Dave Parry's survey? Had 30minutes to do 5K to get under 11hrs....sounds easy doesn't it sat here in this chair!
Very well done to everyone and thanks again.
