Great turn out from EETC at today's Basildon Off-Road Triathlon (I counted 16).

The first Tri of the EETC league saw its usual mixture of spills, missed laps and podium finishes. This year also saw the unusual sight of the total collapse of Daniel Bent's rear wheel (watch out for the pictures in the EETC web site!!).

Spills: a tight left hand turn at the bottom of the steep hill led to a few falls - and a dry course meant a hard landing for some - including our own Magali Jimenez.

Missed Laps: And the award for the missed lap this year goes to Peter Campion (for the record Peter it's 1 then 2 then 3)

Podium finishes: The official results will be available on the Essex Police Website on Tuesday but from memory:

Tim Butt 1st Male open
Andrew Wood 3rd Male open

Christine Mowle 1st Female open

Graham Hart 2nd Male Vet

Gary Lane 1st Male Police competition

Well done to all and a special thank you to those brave souls who came to support us - an early start way above and beyond the call of duty, Thanks!

Not 1, 2 finish? And I was so pleased with my time crossing the line..........

I'll know better for next year, and would say that it's quite an enjoyable event and worth everyone considering as a good way to start the season.

Congratulations to Chris and Tim and everyone who managed to count more accuratly than I did.

Hi Peter, not to worry, as you said it was an excellent triathlon and a great introduction to the Tri Season for us - look forward to meeting you again at Braintree.

miscounting laps is unfortunately a curse which afflicts triathletes.
