On June 8th Essex Roads will be holding a 100mile bike ride, which will be a sportive event....

I intend to ride this event as one of my last long bike rides and would like some others for support. It is my intention to ride this at a set pace in preparation for Ironman rather than have a tear up with the other riders....

If you are interested, let me know and hopefully we can build a team or two where we can set the groups....

You will need to apply on line..

Would love to join you but as I'm at a stag do the night before, I think I'd better set out on my long 'un later in the day!

Great the numbers are increasing.....

As we are riding a sportive event, we will need to know the rules...... Im sure there is a rule against using tri-bars.....

I think you can leave them on your bike, just cant use them?

If anyone knows any links to find out let me know...

I have asked around and no one is aware of a rule that says no tri bars, but the easiest way would be to write and ask the organiser.

Cheers Bigbloke...

Had a look on a couple of rides being run under sportive rules, and they do state no use of tri bars but one also stated under decision from the organising club ....??

I will use some of our contacts at Essex Roads and Wheelers to see if they can spread any light on the subject.

Lee, a little off subject - but I heard you had a bit of a problem with the cold water at Lakeside last Saturday. In fact I heard you were crying and wailing like a baby?

I may have been thrown a little off-kilter by the sub-zero temperatures and may have exhaled a little sharply at the start. But that was before I turned into a human dolphin and whizzed round ahead of all challengers. But I bet you didn't hear that bit did you?! Wink

Hey Guys & Gals,

I have entered the sportive also, although I maybe a bit tired after my jaunt to the Pyrenees!
